Guests are offered a Cornish cream tea in the Great Hall with its minstrel's gallery, log fire and stone mullion windows. Then you can relax in the gardens under the rhododendron trees, which date back to when the house was built in 1856, or walk down through the grounds into the woods by the lake and cross the ornamental bridge to follow the river amongst the trees. The elegant dining room and sitting room with elaborate ceilings are also for guests to enjoy. On warm evenings, drinks may be enjoyed on the long terrace overlooking the woods or in the hall. Your hosts, Anthony and Carolyn Hindley have owned and run a country house hotel in Cornwall and will be delighted to help you plan your stay.
Treverbyn Vean features in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, ‘100 finest places to stay in England’ (page 38) and in Hudson’s Historic Houses & Gardens (page 551).
In the summer 2007 issue of Beautiful Britain magazine, Treverbyn Vean was a special feature in their article ‘The Warmest of Welcomes’, (page 60).
In January 2008, Cornwall Today ran an exclusive article, (page 133) describing Treverbyn Vean as “an architectural and historical treasure, hidden in the woods...”. The article continues, “Today, despite its size and style, the interior is the epitome of warmth and light. This is . .. down to the efforts of Carolyn and Anthony who .... have furnished the rooms and installed three log burners, making the great house a comfortable home.”
Anthony and Carolyn came to Treverbyn Vean in 2002, and the Cornwall Today article concludes, “The couple’s experience of hospitality and the special nature of the house have combined to make the venture a success”.
Treverbyn Vean  has been awarded the highest accolade in the tourist industry: Five Stars and a Gold Award for service.
Treverbyn Vean Manor is an impressive Grade II * listed, neo-Gothic manor house of great architectural and historic importance. Approached through the old lodge gates and a drive bordered by pine trees and rhododendrons, the house stands high above the beautiful wooded Glynn valley, enjoying the peace and tranquility of pine woodlands edged by the rivers Fowey and Loveny. It nestles on the southern slopes of Bodmin Moor, and is within easy reach of both the north and south coasts of Cornwall.
The unique combination of work by Victorian architects George Gilbert Scott and William Burges, has created a breathtaking and yet fabulously welcoming home.
